WORKSHOP 1 - Planning the exit site for optimal dressing and securement (Cadaveric Workshop)

Whether you are just beginning your procedural practice in vascular access or are a seasoned operator, this workshop will greatly enhance your technical skills for central venous access device placement. Take this opportunity to learn in a cadaveric workshop, tailored to vascular access which is a rare opportunity in Australia. The workshop will focus on applied anatomy for central venous access device insertion, ultrasound assessment before insertion, and planning the exit site for optimal dressing and securement once the device is placed. This high ratio of both equipment and faculty to delegates will ensure an intense kinaesthetic learning experience.

AVAS has partnered with The University of Wollongong to offer the popular micro-credential: ‘Principles and Practice for Difficult Venous Access’ as a pre-conference course.
The short course will provide participants with the knowledge to assess people with difficult venous access and the skill to insert peripheral intravenous catheters for infusion therapy, blood sampling and or peripheral blood culture collection using assistive technology such as ultrasound guidance.
