A variety of workshops will be offered to delegates to book closer to the event. A summary of topics is noted below.

Thursday 13 May

WORKSHOP 1: Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy

WORKSHOP 2: Tracheostomy Workshop

Presented by Margaret Nicholson

Challenged by tracheostomy care? Come along and refresh your knowledge and skills.

  • You are looking after a patient with a tracheostomy and you can’t pass the suction catheter - what is happening?
  • The tracheostomy site is bleeding or blood is coming out of the tube - what do you do?

Join us to review upper airway A&P and emergency algorithms.  Practice easy to follow steps in a fun and safe environment where you will learn the basic equipment you need to support the patient.

WORKSHOP 3: Resilience, Wellbeing and Empathy in Times of Change
Presented by Samantha Jakimowicz

Dr Jakimowicz will be facilitating this interactive workshop that introduces participants to a number of different interventions to build empathy, wellbeing and resilience. Evidence-based programs such as Schwartz Rounds and Empathy Circles will be experienced as a means of ameliorating distress arising from traumatic patient care situations and increased workload amongst healthcare professionals. This workshop provides a space where healthcare staff can discuss social and emotional aspects of caring for others in a safe and structured forum.
