Women in Medical Leadership Breakfast Seminar
The inaugural Women in Medical Leadership Breakfast Seminar will be held at the 2018 RANZCR ASM in Canberra.
Gender equality in medicine is increasing and 31% of our College’s members are now women. Female leadership and supporting the increased presence of women in medical leadership roles is an important next step for our professions.
This exciting seminar will open a dialogue among RANZCR members on barriers and enables of women in leadership. With invited key speakers Ms Jen Dalitz, CEO of Women in Banking and Finance and Dr Subi Grobver, Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at University of Pennsylvania and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at University of Botswana and, along with local leaders within Clinical Radiology and Radiation Oncology, we will unpack learnings from other sectors, the impact of the #metoo movement and canvass priorities in this space.
Most critically, this will be a unique opportunity to connect leaders and aspiring leaders within our sector.
All who are interested in gender equality and female empowerment are welcome, women and men alike.

Jen Dalitz is the CEO of Women in Banking and Finance (WiBF), a not-for-profit association aimed at improving gender diversity and inclusion in the banking and finance sector. WiBF’s corporate members represent major Australian trading banks, investment banks, fund managers, ASX listed corporates, government departments, law firms and accounting firms and collectively employ over 250,000 individuals.
An internationally recognised thought leader on diversity and inclusion, Jen is a published author and notable commentator on issues relating to women in leadership.
Her career spans 25 years, international borders and a host of blue-chip companies. With a strong background in finance, consulting and diversity, Jen has been at the forefront of the gender agenda for over a decade – as a senior executive, management consultant and CEO.
A CPA and CA qualified finance professional, Jen also holds an MBA from the AGSM, is a Graduate of the Company Directors Course and an accredited Executive Coach.
She has ten years’ experience on Boards in the financial services, agricultural and education sectors; and has founded three start-up businesses.
Dr. Surbhi Grover is an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at University of Pennsylvania and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at University of Botswana. She is interested in addressing the growing global cancer burden by focusing on public health endeavors and cost-effective clinical initiatives to improve access to care and outcomes of care in developing countries. Since 2011, she has been working with the Botswana-UPENN partnership, strengthening the oncology program in Botswana. She moved full-time to Botswana in 2014.
In her current role at the Princess Marina Hospital, she is seeing cancer patients at the public hospital, conducting research and teaching at the University of Botswana School of Medicine. She is leading the implementation of an ongoing U54-funded study focused on cervical cancer and is involved with mentoring several junior investigators at the University of Botswana through the mentoring core of U54. She has lead the development of the first gynecological cancers multi-disciplinary tumor board in Botswana and is currently working on building a similar tumor board for head and neck cancer patients and breast cancer patients as well. She is leading the radiation oncology training platform for AORTIC, African body on cancer research and training. She has authored over 95 publications and has lead and been involved in several grants focusing on cancer care in low and middle income countries.
