We did it! - The Catholic Education Western Australia for the hosted the 6th National School Improvement Curriculum Colloquium between 15 -17 October 2023 and
welcomed 169 delegates from around Australia to the Rydges Esplanade Fremantle
The theme ‘Pathways of Hope’ - May the God of hope fill you all with joy and peace so that you may abound in the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13), asked delegates to consider “How do we serve, engage and empower our schools to lead school improvement that prepares students for a hope-filled future?”
The Program - Delegates heard from the author and educator, Tracey Ezard. Known for her ‘Ferocious Warmth’ leadership approach and professional collaborative culture work was able to share the collaborative framework The Buzz with delegates.
Brendan Spillane Australian educator, speaker and coach, and in his previous career worked as a teacher and Principal in Catholic schools, excelled as the Master of Ceremonies facilitating the sessions, providing clear information, stories, humour and insightful dialogue with the delegates. Thank you to those speakers who shared their experience and insights through the concurrent sessions and helped us to reflect on our service and leadership in school improvement.
Outside of the NSIC professional collaboration and learnings, you will also have the opportunity to explore and enjoy the City of Fremantle which is home to some of the country’s most picturesque beaches with wonderful restaurants, rich heritage, strong connections to Aboriginal culture, and a vibrant social scene.
Connecting with exhibitors – We are grateful to those Colloquium exhibitors who partnered with us, showing their commitment to promotion of best practice in Catholic education across Australia.
Fellowship – Our Welcome Eucharist at St Patrick’s Basilica and the Welcome to Country by Robyn Collard at Bathers Beach really set the tone for the Colloquium. It filled our hearts with hope, hope for the future and strength to continue our commitment to school improvement. This was a time to come together as a community to pray and reflect on our purpose, our hopes and our dreams.
